Happy Easter, to those who celebrate!
So yesterday Grant drove me down to University Hospital. He had to just drop me off because visitors are not allowed during COVID. So that was weird. But the staff has been taking good care of me.
First I was in the ER for check in. They were expecting me. Nothing much happened there except a lot of waiting and eventually a full chest, abdomen, and pelvis CT scan.
Then finally after many hours I was moved upstairs and admitted into my own room, top floor with a great view of the Mountains and downtown Denver.
Eventually one of Dr. G’s partners came in to discuss the findings of the scan. As previously understood, there is an obstruction in the left pelvis (whatever that means), but they were sorry to tell me it’s likely due to cancer progression, not adhesions. So that will change the planned course of action. Dr. G will stop by and see me tomorrow, either first thing in the morning or over his lunch hour.
One of the things the scan showed was a lot of fluid in my bowels so the way they deal with that is put in an NG tube, naso-gastric I think is what it stands for. Then they hook it up to suction and gradually pull it all out. Hopefully that will help me feel better. It was really not fun having it put in place and not very fun to leave it in place. Ugh.
Also they’re keeping me off of anything by mouth, so all things are being given via iv, including some pretty strong pain meds.
I’m sleeping quite a lot and watching and listening to their CARE tv which is beautiful landscapes with lovely accompanying music.
So back to my hard schedule. I’ll let you know what Dr. G says tomorrow.
Joyeuses Pâques !
Thanks for keeping us posted. Sorry for the report and all you’ve been experiencing these last few weeks. I’ve been praying for you and thinking of you often.. You are an inspiration to me.

Dear Andrea,
Courage. I know you are full of it, already. I mean for you to have more than usual or necessary. Preparedness is key-mental preparedness as much as physical. Glad the procedure is or was yesterday or today and not later. You need the relief. I hope it all turns out for the best outcome. Keep us posted when you are able to. Best.
