Post Whole Body Hyperthermia Report

Well. So that was an experience. I’m still coming down from it. The whole experience lasted about four hours.

The first bit was getting changed into appropriate attire, and then getting hooked up to all sorts of monitors, and having an IV saline drip installed.

Then I was tented into a bed with infrared lights and caused to heat up to 39°C / 102.2° F. Then I was held at that temperature for an hour. Then I was allowed to cool down.

The heating up and staying at that temperature was at first kind of comfy, as I’m almost always cold. However, it got to being hard to take pretty quickly. I felt myself sweating a lot. The doctor was good to come dry my face, and provide me with water to drink.

I had been told it would be difficult. So I came prepared with various meditation and guided visualization CDs and my computer and earphones on which to listen to said CDs. I started with a CD I received at the CWFL retreat from one of the women, Shannon, who has a cancer retreat property called Wind River in North Carolina. The CD turned out to be a great place to start, as it started with guided visualization of soaking up heat, and then cooling off with water, in various settings. Probably couldn’t have planned that better. So thank you Shannon!

Once we FINALLY got to the cooling down period, (oh my gosh it felt like it took forever!) then I was able to sleep, maybe for an hour and a half or so. It was very relaxing sleep. After I returned to normal temperature then I was unhooked from everything, allowed to go to the wash room, as they call it up here in Canada, dry off from all the sweat, and change back into my own clothes. I have to say, my face looked all fresh and rosy cheeked, but my body, especially my belly, was all heat mottled.

It didn’t take very long for me to cool off in this cool British Columbia grey cloudiness, and now I’m back at my AirBNB, snuggled up in bed, rehydrating, getting ready for some late lunch, and then a warm shower. I’m very chilled now.

So that is that for that. I’m not sure I’ll want to do it again any time soon. But hopefully it has done what it needs to do to help me clear the body of cancer cells.
